New - Tips & Tutorials Page
We are all looking to improve and develope our photography, beginners and experts alike. The Committee have been discussing ways the Club can help with this and one of the things we have come up with is the Tips & Tutorials page.
This is still being developed and hopefully, with your support, will grow into a very useful resource. What we need from you is to let us know what you need help with so we can try and provide relevant tutorials. You can contact us via the Contact Us page. If you have found an article or website that you have found useful then send it in and we will add it to the list. |

Off Camera Flash Photography
_For our Tutorial evening on Friday 9th December, we welcomed Quoc-Huy NGUYEN DINH who presented an extremely interesting lecture on Off Camera Flash Photography. Huy took us through all options of on and off camera flash, different flash modes and explained pros and cons. He then went on to give a practical demonstration and how to choose the best camera settings. The evening was 'jam packed' with useful information and if you don't know what 'chimping' is . . . . you'll have to ask someone who was there!
If you missed the evening you can read about Huy's presentation at www.qhphotography.com/presentations. Don't miss our next Tutorial evening, click here to go to the Programme page for more information.

Skittles Social Night
_Lots of fun was had by all at The Fox, Newfound on Wednesday evening.
It was good to have a chance to meet up with other members, their
partners and friends.
A team game of skittles warmed everyone up followed by excellent basket meals and a few more drinks before we played an exciting game of 'Killer'. The worthy winner was Tristram, but it was a close match with Pam and Wyn close runners up. See photos of the night here.

Photographic Alliance of Great Britain Awards
NHPS welcomed Leo Rich, Secretary of the PAGB Awards on Friday 7th October to talk to us about the PAGB Awards for Photographic Merit. Leo gave us an entertaining and informative evening about the three levels and the critieria required in order to apply for the awards. The awards are only open to members of Clubs affiliated to the PAGB via their local Federation. Applicants are required to demonstrate to the Federation that they have actively supported their club and/or the Federation.
For the second half of the evening Leo demonstrated the standard of image required for the Credit and Distinction levels by showing us images previously submitted. Some of our members work was then shown and Leo gave his opinion on whether their images were of the necessary standard. More information can be found at the PAGB website.
